In short: there is no account and the app never asks for your name or e-mail. Location is used to show your speed, navigate and record trips. Photos you pick for widgets stay on your device. We don't sell data and there is no advertising.
This policy explains what information the iOS app Car Connect: Play Auto Sync (“the app”, “we”) processes, why, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
No account, no name, no e-mail. The app signs you in anonymously to Firebase Authentication, which creates a random identifier for your installation. It is not linked to your name, e-mail address or Apple ID.
Trips and routes (optional cloud backup). With “Cloud backup of trips” on (default), finished trips — start/end time, distance, speeds and the GPS route — and the destinations you plan routes to (name, address, coordinate, distance and travel time) are stored under that anonymous identifier in Firebase Firestore so you can keep them. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy and delete the stored trips there at any time.
Diagnostics and usage. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports (device model, iOS version, stack traces). Firebase Analytics collects basic, pseudonymous usage events (for example, which screens are opened) to help us improve the app.
No advertising. The app does not show ads, does not use your data for advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. Location
Location is used on your device while driving for the GPS speedometer, the map and navigation, place search, weather/air-quality lookups and optional trip recording (including the drive score and the home arrival sound).
- Background location is used only while a trip is recording and only if you enable it.
- Routes are stored only if you enable “Store trip routes”.
- You can change location access at any time in iOS Settings, and delete all trips in Settings › Privacy in the app.
3. Photos
The app only accesses photos you choose yourself for widgets. They are copied, downscaled, into the app's private container on your device so the widget can show them. They are not uploaded. Remove them from the widget editor or Settings › Privacy.
4. Contacts
Only the favourites you pick are referenced (by identifier) for quick calling. Nothing is uploaded.
5. Service providers
We use the following processors to run the app. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication (Google) | Anonymous sign-in; random identifier only |
| Firebase Firestore (Google) | Optional cloud backup of trips, routes and planned destinations |
| Firebase Analytics (Google) | Basic, pseudonymous usage statistics |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google) | Crash reports |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Notifications, if you allow them (a push token is stored) |
| Firebase Remote Config (Google) | Feature flags and update notices |
| Firebase App Check (Google / Apple App Attest) | Protects our backend from abuse by verifying requests come from the genuine app |
| Adapty | Subscription status and paywall management; receives purchase receipts from Apple and an anonymous profile identifier — no payment details |

6. Third-party services
Weather and air quality are requested from Open-Meteo.com using approximate coordinates. Internet radio station lists come from radio-browser.info and streams are played from the stations' own servers. Navigation and music hand-offs open Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Apple Music, Spotify or YouTube Music under their own policies.
7. Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive no payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
8. Retention & deletion
On-device data stays until you delete it. Settings › Privacy › Delete all data erases preferences, vehicles, places, trips, photos and imported sounds — or simply delete the app. Trips backed up to Firestore can be deleted in Settings › Privacy; you can also e-mail us to request deletion of data linked to your anonymous identifier. Crash and analytics data are kept by Firebase for limited periods according to its standard retention settings.
9. Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your data. Because we don't know who you are, the easiest way to exercise these rights is in the app's Settings › Privacy. For anything else, contact us below.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it last changed; material changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
